Identifying 32x W series

vbimport

#1

Hi All,

I have asked this question elsewhere, but no responses so far. Perhaps it was not visible:

Given that the 32x Liteon is OCable to 48x, the problem is how does one differentiate between the S and W series? Is there any differentiating factor that helps one identify it from the packaging?

I'll be buying it online or in Phoenix. Appreciate any help.

TIA

Your BIOS should show during boot which version you have

Clarification:

What I need to know is, how do I know, at the time of purchase, whether it is the S or W version that I’m buying?

If you purchase it online aren’t you told what it is? I was.
If you buy it personaly at a store, im not sure, as it doesnt say on the box whether it is a ‘w’ or ‘s’.

Indeed it doesnt say on the box.
Buyer(or seller) have to open box before buying drive… becouse exact id of drive is writen on top of the drive.
Buyer(or seller) have to look for silver sticker, upper/right part of it, almost above yellow part of sticker.

PS. Sorry for my awfull english

You MAY try to GUESS, basing on manufacturing date or barcode #
My:
LTR-40125W was manufactured in April 2002
LTR-32123S was manufactured in February 2002, barcode # 4718390003087.

Thanks

I just got a 32123S that was made in March 2002

The W models came in April…or maybe very late March.

That’s at least something but you can’t be fully sure without opening the box and look at the top of the drive.

Damn…that what I figured…Hmmm…d oI try for another drive or just give up…

What is the barcode on the box of a 32125w drive–is this a way of differentiating (sp) between them?
