Hey Everyone,

Thanks for having me, forums look great. Here is my problem.
I installed a working Magicspin IDE1008
A.K.A. DVDRW8d, A.K.A. 1008IM
from my friends computer to my computer. Right now here is the status:
I have gone through the sticky as well.

DVDRW IDE1008 Firmware Version 0159

  1. The drive is shown as a CD-Rom in Windows Explorer
  2. The drive shows up (labeled right etc) in device manager
  3. I can play DVD discs
  4. CD’s (installation for example) and CD-R’s don’t even show up
  5. IDE cable is tight
  6. I have tried to delete the drive and restart
  7. I have enabled IMAPI Service
  8. I have uninstalled primary and secondary channels and restarted
  9. I have uninstalled IDE and restarted
  10. I have it installed on the secondary chain by itelf as Cable Select
I have tried live update to upgrade the firmware, it went to .6 and now I’m at .59 (tried to download manually and use that version)
    Still no go.

Any help would be appreciated I am about to go nuts. Here is the Nero Info readout.

Test the drive in another computer.

I think it’s time for a new drive here…

Hi,

Try setting the drive to master or slave, depending on your configuration. Some drives don’t work very good with CS setting.

I did a bit more testing:

  1. CD Function doesn’t work in Linux either.
  2. I will try to make it a master later today.
    Thanks for the info guys!
