Hey I have a friend who is giving me a compuer. The computer has a SATA set up. He says that he is keeping the hard drive. I have a IDE with windows xp media center 2005 and I want to use that. I want to buy an IDE to SATA converter for it should i because I am broke I could only buy that. I can't affort a new opperationg or new hard drive. So is it a good idea
You'll still need an operating system. The one on your IDE drive won't work in a different machine. You can do a fresh installation if it's a full version and not an OEM copy. As to the adapter, newegg likely has them.
