Welcome to the forum

Not sure who made the DVD-ROM drive either (the other drive is obviously a LiteOn CD burner) - I can’t tell by the firmware revision (some models are easy to identify by that, such as some BenQ models), so the only way may be to pull the drive and have a look at the sticker on it.

You don’t go into much detail about the problem you’re experiencing - whether the problem is with CDs, DVDs, or both.

You also don’t say which Operating System you’re using, but if you’re using Windows, are there any yellow exclamation marks next to the drive in Device Manager?

If you give a few more details, hopefully we can help.

so the drive doesn’t read anything
it doesn’t even spin the disk
the little green light does the flashy thing
pretending that it is doing something important
but i know better than that ^^
the person i got it from said that everything was working
i am running windows xp
i think i need to do a driver update
but i can’t find the right drivers online
i had the same problem finding drivers for everything else on this blasted thing
i was just wondering if there was a site i could go to
so that i could get the proper drivers
or if it is firmware
but honestly i don’t really know the difference between firmware and drivers
if you need anymore info on the drive
let me know and i can do my best to get it for you
thanks for your time ^

i think the company name is lite-on as well

actually that could be my other drive
foolish me
