I/O Write Error using Verb DL on Pioneer 112D

vbimport

#1

am having trouble writing to Verb DVD+R DL 8x (Made in sinagopre).

My drive is Pioneer 112D flashed with latest firmware 1.24
Layer break option is set to 1913760

I am burning at 4x and the write error occurs just after the second layer is begining to write.
I have made 2 coasters now, and i am at a loss as to what to check now?

This is my first time burning dual layer disks. Single layers burn fine.

Here is the log of one of the burns.

#2

can you test one of these discs on a different drive? I wonder if you got a bad batch of media :frowning:

#3

Ive lent my mate a few disks for him to use on his 116D pioneer.

Will try burning at 2.4x speed and see if that works any better on my drive.

Do you think perhaps DMA could be a problem?

#4

DMA should be enabled always for DVD burnings, but if the problem happens always on the second layer, there are two possibilities: or the disc is defective, or the drive has a problem.

I think that the software is not the culprit in this case, because many people burns DL discs with this software with no problems

#5

One problem that it could be, the iso file was located on a external usb hard drive.
I have moved the file to the main internal C drive and i am now trying to burn at 2.4x

Hopefully this will give better results.

Will report back with an update in 40 mins

#6

oops. using an USB drive as source indeed is not a very good idea, even if burning at 4x shouldn’t be too slow :frowning:

I always use an internal HDD for my burnings

#7

Whilst burning the iso from the usb drive, the buffer and device buffer on imgburn were always full, so i wouldnt have thought that the usb drive was the cause of the problem.

Both times, when it errored, it did so around 51 to 54%

#8

Currently at 62%, so things looking good so far

Edit : Burn completed. Must have been either the speed or the usb Hard drive source.

#9

Good
