ive now burnt about 10 Bulkpaq printable 4x prodisc R02 disks. every single one a coaster. none of them have been successfully read past 4gb, while most only read to around 3gb.
these are unequivocally the worst disks i have ever used.
inorder to give them benefit of the doubt i used the following combinations (all on nec2500a)
beta 6,7,8,9a with booktype set to dvd-rom and dvd+r.
ive tried at speeds from 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x.
ive tried using nero and record now max
ive tried burning the files from different hard disks.
the results are the same.
10 disks burnt, none are readable right the way through.
to summarise, below are some of the disks and the quality i got from them (best quality top, lowest quality bottom):
arita ritek G04, 4x, dvd-r
ritek G04 printable white top, 4x, dvd-r
datawrite redtop v2, 4x, dvd-r
datasafe G03, 2x, dvd-r
bulkpaq printable Prodisc R02, 4x, dvd+r
ive also used a host of dvd+rw disks. no problems whatsoever with these. 100% reliable.
bulkpaq printable, the worst disks ive ever used. complete waste of time, for me, on my drive. 100% failure rate.
i think this weekend i shall order some datawrite redtops and ritek G04 disks, cuz im running low on disks and all i have lots of are these bulkpaq disks.
another point of note is that the only firmware that allowed me to burn reliably ritek G04 media was herrie's 1.07, beta6 firmware. try that firmware and see if the ritek burns improve.
