Has the Ritek/ridata quality improved?

The verbatim are flawless but I would like a Hub Printable DVD-R. I really don’t want to go up in price to the Taiyo Yuden. What are my options?

For RiTEK/RiDATA, you’re OK except for their DL media. These days RiTEK/RiDATA has been using FujiFilm’s OxoLife dye technology for most of its recent single-layer DVD media. The quality control on the RiTEK single-layer discs has been quite variable (though not as variable as the typical media coming out of CMC Magnetics’ factories).

Yes the RiTEK/RiDATA brand has improved some what lately but it’s still not on
the Verbatim, TY, FTI, level yet. I still can not and will not recommend any of
the RiTEK/RiDATA discs to anyone because as you said RJL65 they do still have
quite a variable in quality from batch to batch and why they can not get it right
or even get close on every batch is a mystery to me.

The Falcon print looks better than regular white printables from anyone.

Watershield is by far the best but at a price.

I would go with the Falcon White or Silver if you want to try something new.

Falcon now has a water repellent ink jet printable. So I tested a few samples to find out how good they are. I dunked a printed disc in warm water for 10 seconds and NOTHING FADED! Stay away from Ritek. I also have the TDK regular printables by FTI mentioned by getit and they are excellent too.

I’m not sure why you think TY is more expensive.

TY 8x - $32/100

Verbatim 8x - $16/50

TY Watershield 16x - $30/50

Verbatim AquaAce 8x $30/50

Well you gave me alot of suggestions…

The Verbatims I buy at Sams Club are about 31 $ with Tax. When I do look at other brands everyone says stick with Rima to buy my media. It would be an extra 8$ for shipping so thats what makes the TY’s and other more money.

Well I think I’m going to try out the Falcons. Also are these same brands good on none printable’s also?

#12

OK another question, are these brands good in the none printable variety also? and what are other good none printable if there is a difference.

Also are the Verbatim DataLifePlus the same as the 16x ? is the fact that there 8x the reason there called Verbatim DataLifePlus?
