I have a bunch of DVD drives, want to test error recovery and media compatibility. Are "dvd test discs" available?
I've seen CD discs such as SBC444A, that is used to 'adjust' or repair CD.
But for an DVD drive. I want to test each drive for its:
1) If it supports the minus R or plus R, or -ROM (for both CD and DVD), and its 'time' to get the directory list
2) Is there some LBA addressing problem, (ie: the disc would read out only 1.8gb even though it is burned 4.0gb)
3) Error recovery ability. Some will halt on an read error, while another DVD rom will read it just fine.
I want to standardize the test so I can made a note of which DVDrom drive is worthy to keep and which other is scrap (just take its drive tray belt)
I understand that no one drive will do it all (expect the newer SATA ones), but thats ok. I rather connect 4 IDE dvdrom then to connect 18 IDE DVDrom, which I can't do on a single motherboard.
