Can you help me please.

Thanks

Your drive is OEM so use:
dvrflash -vff F: RB123011.137 RB123111.137
but with DVRFlash 2.2.

Wow! Another success! Yep DVR will do the trick in windows too!

chef you are AWESOME

Works !!!

Thanks my friend

Yep Chef be the man for sure! Any good local draft/drought beer over there?

Always great to see/read that it has worked.

A bunch of FreeBee®s now for all of you.
(Ich schmeiss’ ne Runde Pils!)

I am having the exact same problem but when I follow your instructions using DVRFlash 2.2 and instead of saying:

The DRW-1608P2 is not supported by this utility - Aborting

it says

Firmwares and Drive type mismatch
Continue because force option was specified
Are you sure you want to flash this drive (y/n)?

Everything else is the same.

Just hit y and it will (cross)flash your drive.

Did it work? I am thinking about this drive and crossflashing it to a A10!
And where is it made?

It will work if the correct commandline is used.

Ordered it Chef! I will post a PIC of where it was made! But I doubt its MIJ like yours!

Worked like a charm! I actually have 3 of these drives, one in my computer and 2 in family members and have been searching for this solution for a couple of weeks off and on. Asus support is useless on this topic with nothing close to a solution on their pages. Thanks again chef for shareing you wisdom =)

You are welcome!

Others made it possible, namely AgentSmith, >NIL:, TDB, LasVegas, etc.

Hello,

I’m having a similar problem when trying to Flash my drive I’m following the instructions as posted above with the correct versions, however when I force flash it the program will crash and the drive will not flash.

Any help will be appreciated.

We need more and exact info about what happens and how.

chef is truly a guru when it comes to everything that got a tray in it

Here is the output from the program up to the point it crashes.

y

Switching drive to Kernel mode:
Description : DRW-1608P
Firmware Rev. : 0000
Firmware Date : 05/02/04
Manufacturer : PIONEER
Drive is now in Kernel mode

Now sending the Kernel part:
// sptxSay.DeviceIoControl: x57 (87) The parameter is incorrect.
// sptxSay x 0 0 8000 E (ioctl status length senseLength)
[/B]

The program will crash and close after this line.

Sorry about the ambiguity.

Try flashing in true DOS, you have to use the DVRflash version 2.2 meant for DOS. Make an XP boot disc, and put the firmware and dvrflash on the disc in another folder.
