I can't change my 7543A to slave, please help me!

I have Asus L1B, HDD Hitachi travelstar 100GB and new Optiarc 7543A. New 7543 is set as master, but I need slave, beacuse when I set my HDD as slave and DVD as master, then HDD is working in UDMA2 mode (HDD supporting UDMA5). I can’t use the NECDriveConv, necflash v1.34, beacuse the utilities is not working with my drive (necflash -scan -v -> device Optiarc DVD RW AD-7543A 1-00 unsupported). What can I do now?

I expected the latest Binflash version to support 7543 drives - at least for dumping, obviously something did not work as expected. But you should be able to create an identification file for unsupported drives. Please let me know what’s inside this file.

However I cannot help with support for converting your drive to slave. Please try to get in contact with NEC support and ask them for such a firmware. They should be able to provide you with some DOS based tools for this.

Ok, I try to ask NEC for solution.

Here is my identification:

Thanks for the information. This should be enough to make Binflash compatible with the 7543 (and hopefully 7540) drives. If you drop me a PM with your email address, I can send you a new Binflash version for testing. I’d be interested in the complete firmware too of course :o

Problem was solved. Solution is on http://www.de.nec.de/faq_detail.php/id/1644/frage/798/lang/ENG

I already had the tools for a few days, but yet have to find time to update our site. :o
I still wonder, what exactly this tool changes. I guess it won’t be much. Maybe someone is able to do a Trace? :flower:
