Wow, I really don't get this at all!
I own a Lite-on SHW-160P6S DVDRW burner (I also have a Lite-on SOHD-16P9SV DVD-rom in the second bay) and for the last few days its burning capabilities have been spotty at best. And I have no idea why.
The burn process itself goes fine (no errors noted or anything). But the compatability of the CD-Rs are all over the place! Often the CD-Rs don't work in my '98 Volvo's cd player (they always used to) or in a cd changer at work (so that rules out the cd player as the problem right?).
Curiouser and curiouser: Sometimes the CD-Rs work in my car player if I rapidly skip tracks until the cd player noticeably stops its skipping noise and "tracks" the CD. But this does not always work and often the cd player gives up and spits the CD-R back out.
I've tried everything I know (and yes, I've read some of these forums) to fix this. I originally had firmware PS0A for the DVDRW drive. I then upgraded the firmware to the newest version (PSOC). No change. I tried burning on both nero and roxio easy cd creator. No change. I even omitted the mp3 tracks on my CD-R and just included tracks from other CDs, thinking perhaps the mp3 tracks on the CD-R were the culprit of uncompatability. No change there either. Now that last fact REALLY irks me, as a CD-R comprised of exclusively CD tracks (that is, no mp3 tracks) ALWAYS worked on my car player before (hell, even mp3 tracks on a CD-R used to play fine on my car player). And stranger still is the fact that my other CD-Rs I burned before this problem (using the same software, the same type of blank media, and the same drivers/firmware) continue to work fine in my car player (and some of those CD-Rs are comprised exclusively of downloaded mp3 files).
Seriously, what the hell? Did Windows or any of my burning programs suddenly sprout brain cells of their own and toggle some kind of setting on/off?
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated:iagree:
