We’ve just posted the following news: HP: We will block non-HP cartridges in the future again, firmware update only temporary solution[newsimage]http://www.myce.com/wp-content/images_posts/2016/09/myce-HP-Ink-Cartridges-95x75.jpg[/newsimage]

The firmware update that unblocks non-HP cartridges is only a temporary solution, according to HP. The printer manufacturer will block non-HP cartridges again in the future but will be more transparent about it.

I think consumers should be totally transparent and boycott their products. That should be readily understood by HP.

Here’s bigger news why would people after fixing the BS firmware lock want to update the Firmware again? Doesn’t take Rocket Science to figure this one out.

Looks like HP is getting “Foot in Mouth Disease” and hasn’t learned. There are plenty of other printer makers out there waiting to snatch up those customer and business customers-does HP think those customers in this day and again are that stupid???

I stop buying HP printers a long time ago.

My last was HP MF277DW and that will be the last as this one works very good. I’ll find another used/new one like this should the time come to it again. I have a HP 8540 and MF277DW and both are excellent printer before the HP BS stunt they pulled. Consumer and Business have other Printer manufacture they can go to does HP think they are the only one in business…

Ditto, maybe 10-12 years ago due to the horrible software.

Can this company not decide what they want or what the hell? They’ve changed their mind like 3 times already. CEO needs to be fired - find someone who knows how to run a company / do PR. I have bought 2 HP printers, a hp psc 1110 and a 1410, I’m currently using the latter. Not gonna buy another HP printer, not that I’d buy any new printer though.

Going down, down, down, down!

I bought that Epson multifunction 3640 printer after finally retiring my old school tank 990 that still works today. Its very hard to find decent aftermarket, new, or used carts for it now but it still prints awesome when I do get a good cart for it.
New printer does everything and with some tweaking prints as nice as my 990 and double sides everything including scans, and even auto loads up to 100 sheets to be double side scanned and can work with Tablets and phones wireless. There are already aftermarket bulk ink tank setups and carts for it but I haven’t run out the starter carts yet, plus OEM ones are 60 at Costco for a multi pack.
Screw HP, new printer only cost 94 bucks at Costco so worth a gamble and so far happy with it.

We’ve got two HP laser printers at home. Both function well, and one in particular prints faster than any other printer I’ve ever seen. Thankfully, from the sounds of it, their laser printers won’t be affected. That said, until HP reverses their decision and stops trying to block people from using a printer that they purchased with their own money from using it however they desire, I will never purchase another HP printer.

I agree. :iagree: :iagree:

People should switch to other manufacturers that don’t restrict the use of third party cartridges.

I for one won’t be buying HP anytime, soon.
