HP has released new firmware for its Officejet, Officejet Pro and Officejet Pro X printers that allows them to accept non-HP ink cartridges again. The printer manufacturer marks the firmware update as optional and states in the changelog it removes ‘dynamic security’.

Please note that even with this change HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP supplies.
Really that is all they can say as user before used generic and had no problems what a load of BS. Way to go HP screw customers so they go with other brands. Ya, that is one way to grow business “think inside the box”.

I have on old HP LaserJet 5P, which was manufactured back when people were using MS-DOS. I see no reason to upgrade, since I could easily buy any generic cartridge I want.
