HP yesterday officially responded to the acquisitions of pre-programming a failure date of non-HP cartridges in its printers. According to the printer manufacturer it made changes to its software last year to “protect the printers and to protect the communication between the cartridge and the printer”.

This is something consumers need to know before they buy a printer - we’ve just updated our printer comparison tool to highlight printers with known 3rd party cartridge compatibility issues so consumers can be aware of this before they make a decision. We don’t sell printers, it’s just an information site - hopefully a useful tool… I would be interested in any feedback from MYCE users?
