I purchased one of these dogs, the PC is not too bad but HP support sucks.
This PC has places to plug in S-video, Composite video, audio, the whole thing. The video card is a Hauppauge 885 card
they say it is for a TV, etc and imply you can plug in a DVD, VHS etc but when you ask them how do you hookup a DVD, how do you play, well, that is another $60 on top of the extended warranty.
Their site is no help.
Question: i have tried to hook up my Samsung DVD 1080i, my two LG DVD/VHS combo via the audio/composite video ports in the front but can't seem to find software to "read" or capture the signal coming into these ports, tried VLC, Intervideo WinDVR 5, Microsoft Media Center, etc. Nothing seems to work.
I would like to play these devices thru the HP and later, transfer some VHS to DVD.
Is there something difference about a TV signal and a DVD or VHS signal? I assume the VHs maybe analog and the other digital but would seem if a TV signal going into a composite port is simular to a DVD or VHS signal? but seems you can play the TV on some programs but not the DVD or VHS.
