However, internal hard drives will still be faster right? Still, to speed up external hard disks is a good thing - it certainly will make backups faster and more easy!

the internal hard drives don’t connect via USB, they connect via SATA or something faster, so no need to consider USB 3.0 on the internal drive.

eSata exists, so I don’t see any need for another interface to connect an external drive to a computer. With modern computers, there isn’t even an additional chip needed since most chipsets support 4 or even 6 Sata devices.
