I was needing some help on my hp dvd/cd writer 400c, my operating system is windows xp professional, which is not the original os that came with the comp as l had to reinstall windows from scratch as the computer only came with recovery discs wouldnt work. Ever since reinstalling windows l havent been able to burn discs whether it be cd's or dvd's. I have tried several different burners with pretty much the same result, it gets perhaps a quarter or half way thru burning a dic and l get an error message, usually the effors blame it on the disc but lve tried several different brands of discs with the same result. l have also tried going to the hp site and installing as many of the original drivers as possible but that hasnt helped either. Another problem that has started with the burner is the eject tray wont open sometimes or when l try to close it it wont stay closed it just keeps reopening, which is making me think that maybe the actual burner itself might have something wrong with it. Basically l just wanted to ask if it sound like lm having a problem because l changed the original os from xp home to professional or would it be because the burner has a problem with it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
