I have an HP CD52 burner on an XP-Pro SP2 system.
XP and every app recognizes the drive and it's abbilities.
The drive used to sometimes not see some music discs.
Now it doesn't "see" any blank or store-bought music or software disc.
The drive does spin and the indicator light does light.
Alcohol 120% claims there is no disc in the drive when I attempt to burn a stored back-up image I created by reading from my CD-R drive.
I've tried with the CD-R installed and uninstalled.
I've tried with the burner as a slave and as a master, hard jumpered and cable select.
HP's Tech Support didn't respond to my first email.
They had no clue to offer in response to my second email.
They responded to my third email with an extremely lengthy process of deleting Registry entries, rebooting and reinstalling drivers.
XP has native drivers for this drive.
They mentioned that some burner apps corrupt or over-write registry entries.
I did install Disc Juggler and used it once a long time ago.
I did instal Nero 6 Ultra but got a message that this version had problems with XP that limited it's features. So, I don't use it. I use CCD and Alcohol 120%.
Has anyone experienced tha same problem?
Is anyone familiar with this drive?
I think it's a BenQ.
Can anyone offer any advise?
