Ad from tigerdirect.com for 8X DVD R’s wrote:

Can write a full disc in as little as 25 minutes

I wonder who wrote there marketing? It only takes 8 min to write a 8X media.

This might give a clue: http://www.cmcdisc.com/hp_dvdr.htm

It must be noted however that some HP 8x +R is MCC 003 (Mitsubishi).

With P-CAV, 8 minutes for 8x sounds about right.

If not burning a full disc, even 4 minutes for 8x could sound right.

Thanks! I had a hunch it was CMC.

0010 : 00 00 03 43 4d 43 20 4d 41 47 00 45 30 31 00 38 ...CMC MAG.E01.8

How about when burned with the NEC 2500A (I noticed that was on your hardware list)? I thought I saw some pretty good scans on the media test page.
