How to Split Vocals from Audio on CD Music Disk

I’m kind of a newbie regarding this type of issue, but I have a project that I am trying to work on, that is requiring me to Split the Vocals from the Audio portion of a CD Music Disk. In other words I need to create a Split-Track of some CD Music that I have for a project that I am attempting to work on.

  1. Is it even possible??
  2. Is there any software available that can assist and/or accomplish this task?? (Freeware/Open Source is preferred), but I realize if there is any software that can accomplish this task, it will most likely be either commercial and/or shareware. Price is a concern for my client… As always…

Thanks in advance for any assistance, experience, and/or suggestions that any of you may have had with this type of request that you may have had…

If you have had any experience and/or suggestions regarding this type of issue, please feel free to contact me at my contact info listed below…

I think this is not possible without a lot of work and special (expensive) software.

Maybe its easier to get something related to KARAOKE.
