How to properly download and burn a movie to a DVD?

Hi,

I have downloaded movies many times and burned them to a DVD before. Usually I get about a 700mb file to burn to a 4.7gig DVD and no matter what I do, it never seems to be all that great of quality. Can someone explain to me in detail the best way to look for a high quality Dvdrip (specs and things to look for such as size) and what software to use as well as settings, instructions to make as good of quality burn as I can? Thank you. As I said I have done it before but I am sure there are better ways to do it.

The easiest way is to get a stand alone player that supports avi (Xvid/DivX), no conversion. You are not going to get much quality from 700MB avi no matter what software/settings you use. The best option – buy the movie.

You mentioned dvdrips. Those available for download, especially in the form of avi files, are rarely legal.
