I have a printer CANON MP610, this kind of printer should print directly to the CD and DVD but I dont know how. I have been trying to find the way but I have no idea how to do it.

Did the printer come with a CD tray and CD Labelprint software ??

If you’re in the USA:

Get yourself a “tray F” off of eBay, it will also come with instructions.

My MP610 also came without any instructions how to print on CDs, it just had a 2-part CD cassette but no obvious info. I consulted Canon who said the info is on a couple of pages but they did not tell me which document they were referring to. When I asked for clarification they advised me to buy a manual, which I thought was a pretty poor response. Instead I searched files on the 2 CDs that came with the product and found a folder called CD which led to a file giving full instructions. However this file is not linked to the online manual and there is no information hinting at its existence. Web search shows others with this issue. I was surprised and disappointed that Canon have not picked up this problem and also that their help team did not point me to the CD file. Canon have not handled this well and do not seem to understand that they are supplying a product without proper documentation. I hope this message helps.

The links provided which allegedly give instructions to make a USA Canon printer print CDs and DVDs are old and do not include instructions for removing the now solid plastic “Wall”. I wish I knew of a site with curent insructions specifically for either the Canon MP610 or the MP970.

The instructions at either place do NOT apply to the MP610 or the MP970.

To go directly to the MP610 instructions
http://pixma.ulmb.com/?p=138

Even though they state they are for the mp600, they are the same for the MP610.

You have to pull down the plastic door and then pop off the wall with a screwdriver. I was a little uncomfortable doing this at first because you actually have to snap off the piece of plastic holding the wall down. By default all the MP610’s were made without the wall, and then they were added as a deterrent to all the USA Models. It comes right off with a screwdriver.

Make sure to follow the instructions step by step when you put the printer into service mode and change the EPROM settings. After that change the registry keys as stated, pop in the F tray you bought on ebay, and you’re done.

I have a Canon ip4700 and I am having a hard time getting into service menu. I get error code 007 when I try to change printer region. Any clues ?

Please be aware that you will void any warranty by doing this!

I am aware of that, not really much to lose. I only paid $39 for it new from Amazon. Besides, it is already out of warranty. I had it for a while.
