How-to or guide for performing media testing?

Hello folks. Is there a how-to or guide outlining the best practices for performing the media testing that I see posted in the model-specific forum sections?

There is a lot of information in the Disc Testing Methods and Software subforum: http://club.myce.com/f96/

And there is a specific guide for CD-DVD Speed, which is the primary free program used for testing around here: http://club.myce.com/f96/cd-dvd-speed-user-guide-192563/

There are some things, like read speed, that the best setting differs from drive to drive. I usually had it on 8x in my drives.

If you have questions about this particular aspect, you can ask (might be best to ask in the model-specific thread), or just glance at what others may be using (for the read speed aspect, at least).

Doh! My search-fu was quite weak! I plead it was very late at night when I was looking for this info, and my brain was foggy. :o

The reason I posted was that I’ve got a good number of MKM-001-00s and need to figure out the fastest they can be used with my newly purchased drives while still burning reliably. The vendor-specific forums weren’t very useful as people don’t tend to have the need/opportunity to use old media with new drives.

You’re welcome.

If it helps, I always burned MKM-001 at 4x. Even my old BenQ 1620 burned them reliably at that speed.
