How to interpret Jitter scan? thank you

hi,

may i know how to interpret jitter scan?

how many % is good? i read up one article, jitter must less than 16%, but what is a good value

the article is http://www.pioneer.co.jp/crdl/tech/dvd/2-e.html

thank you

by the way, here is one of my dvdr scan, is it good?

thank you

As you can see, your jitter value exactly follows the same curve as your PI value, and it almost always will. So the information gained is very limited. Most discs will run between 9 and 12. My advice is to watch the PI rates and ignore the jitter unless it’s very high. But you should expect to see VERY high PI also if the jitter is high, so again it’s not really telling you anything.

ok thanks, so i no need to scan it since it dont give me any solid results right?

just need to the Nero Scan Disc and DVDinfopro is enough right?

thank you

No, that’s not what I meant. The PI measurement is very valuable info, I just don’t think the jitter measurement tells you anything that the PI doesn’t tell you. If you’re investigating the reason for high read errors, then the jitter measurement might come into play, but in and of itself it’s not too meaningful.

In other terms; if you see high jitter, you will also see high PI.

ok, so i can use the Nero to scan it, since i only own a Benq writer, the values is ok right?

thank you
