How to install Windows XP SP2 in a portable USB Pen Drive

Hello, I am Tanveer Raihan. I am a Mechanical Engineer working in a Power Plant. Recently I have faced a problem regarding the control panel of our generators. The control panel contained an IPC which runs on Windows XP operating system. Recently HDD of that IPC got crashed leaving us in a complete disaster. We have searched that particular model of HDD at our local market but failed. Then I have tried to install the windows on CF card but currently the market is out of CF card more than 4 GB and I think less than 4 GB isn’t sufficient. So, I have no choice left but to use a USB pen drive or Portable HDD. But can any one give me a guide or tutorial about how to install windows XP on the pen drive. I am in badly need here. If anyone can give me anything, I would be heavily grateful.

Regards

Wait let me get this right you had a system crash on a power plant computer and you didn’t contact the IT or tech department there about the problem or management of the situation? I would think this would be better fit for your IT or management to fix not us at MyCE. That is something I think we here should avoid trying to fix something that major that has gone wrong there. You should first and foremost contact your supervisor and management of the problem and make them aware of this. This to me sounds like something they need to address and fix the problem.

@coolcolors, at first, the situation isn’t as much serious as you are expecting. Power plant is running without the IPC smoothly. The IPC only used for viewing the parameters so it isn’t a big issue. But we are facing some difficulties as these HDD’s failure rate has increased drastically so we wanted a better solution. And you are right too. I first approached to our IT department. They have gave their opinion and after reviewing their comments and suggestions, I went to market. And as I am the specialist of these IPC’s so I am responsible for their effortless operation. Because of this I wanted a suggestion. and yeah thanks for your concern.
@Kerry56, thanks. I have already viewed that website. I think it should do the trick. Thanks again.

May i advise to go straight to Service Pack 3? I do know it needs more resouces, but it is a lot safer.

Have you already contacted the manufacturer of that IPC? Might be the better solution to let them fix that problem. Might cost a few $$$ more, though.
