My DVD Reader/Burner can't read a "region 3" DVD.
Description of problem:
When I put in the DVD, it goes into an infinite loop (it keeps trying to read the disc and this process never stops).
What I've tried:
At first I tried settings the region of my DVD Reader/Burner to 3, of course, this didn't help, so just for the fun of it I tried it with ALL regions: region 1-8. I did this with the LtnRPC program. Obviously this didn't work.
The next thing I tried is upgrading the firmware. This I did by downloading a "hacked" GS08.exe, which has been "FlashFix'ed", because my drive is a OEM drive: Slimtype DVDRW SSM-8515S GSL1. Then after the GS08.exe I could install the official GS09.exe without any problem.
After this I tried to put in the DVD again and try to play it. And it didn't work.
I repeated the changing region code thing etc.
And yes, in meanwhile I tried playing other DVDs (movies) I had no problems with and they worked fine.
Then I thought, maybe the DVD is broken, so I tried reading it on the DVD-ROM on my desktop, went into an infinite loop and crashed explorer.exe. After that I put it in a DVD/HDD player in the living room and it gave an error when trying to read the disc. Last but not least I tried playing it in the Medion MD42072 (of which I can't find any detailed specifications of anywhere online). And it worked, the DVD just played fine as ... any other DVD. And the funny thing is, the MD42072 is region 2.
So apparently the DVDs (as it's a DVD collection) aren't totally broken.
How do I force the drive to read it just RAW?
Thanks in advance.
