I just bought a Liteon SOHW-812S (manufacturing date: May 2004). How do I find out what firmware it has?
I found this from the FAQ:
Q: 2.3. How do I find my firmware version?
A: There are different tools available which show your current firmware version, such as Nero InfoTool, Nero CD Speed and Nero DriveSpeed.
Nero CD Speed says:
LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-812S VUSOJ
But there’s a number labeled as SG001 next to the power pins.
At the Liteon web site, there’s a firmware listed as DR8US0J (April 2004).
I’m a bit confused, please help!
What evern Nero CD Speed identifies your drive firmware that is it. But remember you can always upgrade or downgrade your drive firmware.
What ever Nero CD Speed identifies your drive firmware that is it. But remember you can always upgrade or downgrade your drive firmware.
Yes, your firmware version is US0J.
In Nero 6, you can select “Nero InfoTool” under “Nero Toolkit” to get the firmware verion of your 812s. Alternatively, you may use other programs such as DVDInfoPro.
Thanks both of you.
Yes indeed Nero InfoTool and VDVInfoPro confirmed US0J as the original firmware, and I’m on my way to upgrade it.
