Could use the print screen key on your keyboard and open it in something like adobe photoshop & save to whatever format you need, would be an easy method.

Media Player Classic FREEWARE has a “Capture” tool.

Also nero showtime has a capture tool. Cant brag too much on the quality though.

I use VLC (Videolan) as a player, it plays almost anything and has a one click button capture still from dvd button. Id really recommend it to everyone. Its free and you can get it from here:

You can always change the style by using other skins.
VLC Tool, PowerDVD and WinDVD should produce stills easily.

You can capture the stills using one of the indicated tools, but don’t forget the pixel count used by DVD-video to store the images (720 x 480 for NTSC and 720 x 576 for PAL) if you envisage an use that requires picture resolution higher than those ones.
