I wonder if anyone can help me get the code I need to make my new Pioneer BDP-120 zone free? Or at least get the DVD part zone free?

The normal place to look for dvd player hacks is videohelp.com. They do not have one listed for your player. Sorry.

No chance.

The whole “region” concept is bull. I’ve been searching for a region hack with no luck. We will just sell our Pioneer BDP-120 and buy a JVC XBP1. Manufacturers who won’t allow consumers to fix this problem don’t deserve consumer support.

I recall reading some time back on another audio/visual forum that most if not all pioneer and sony dvd players can’t be done via a code on the remote. They need to be done via a pda, laptop or something along those lines that has infrared plus a specific software.

Blu-ray players I believe can be modified to play other BD regions which involves soldering.

Don’t hold me to this as it was a while ago that I read this.

There is a 1.44 original firmware update.

It seems though, for this player, that a hardware modification is required in order to play another region. There are specialised companies who can modify your player for “just $200” so you can switch back and forth from region 1 to 2. Not worth the fuss. Get a chinese crap brand and you probably can play anything you want at any region.
