I have downloaded the dos program to flash my drive as well as the region free code and unlocking code…
Now where do I run the command…reboot into dos…or just from comman prompt…using win xp…
What is the benefit of unlocking speed…is ripping speed any better or is burning speed better ???
Would I still have to use anydvd ???

Yes, since the CSS protected DVD movies still would need to be descrambled.

You need to go in real DOS (not under winxp prompt) via a system floppy disk (Win95/98 system disk is perfect). Since the firmware is about 1 Mb is better if you put the firmware and the flasher in C: (you need a FAT32 Filesystem since NTFS is not accessibile in DOS). Before to flash, backup your current firmware.

Higher ripping speed. The firmware doesn’t alter the burning strategies.

Yes, because pressed DVD-Video are CSS protected and need to be descrambled

Have you considered using the windows flasher?
I used the RPC1 firmware based on Windows 1.06 flasher. You just run it in Windows. it is very easy to do. I am a newbie too, if I can do it, you can too. Takes about 10 - 15 seconds
Best use the windows flasher and as stated it takes just a few seconds

Does it do riplock as well… I completed the RPC -1 upgrade…
Also prior to rip lock what is the rip speed and what is it after riplock
preriplock:
DVD-9 2x to 5x to 2x (dual-layer)
DVD-5 3x to 5x
after riplock:
DVD-9 3x to 8x to 3x
DVD-5 5x to 12x!!
