Thank you… I was not aware of that link. I am not waiting for someone to “hold my hand”; I appreciate any help even a link to tutorials. I am sorry I posted such a “newbie” question, but I’m a doc student usually gone from 9am-9pm with barely any time to study much less spend a lot of time reading manuals, but I understand I need to start somewhere. I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a long time and just never had the time. I was hoping by posting here I’d get a few pointers in the right direction so I wouldn’t read a lot of unrelated stuff that may be included with the stuff I really need. So, if someone said I would need a certain type of cable or hardware I would go research that because I would know it’s compatible at least. I will do more reading on that site and try to pinpoint which specific topics pertain to me. Thanks for pointing me to it.
FOR EXAMPLE: I went to that link and am looking under “Streaming Digital TV Over A Network” which says "Hardware Required:
- A fast network (15mb/s for hdtv, 8mb/s for sdtv, as an absolute minimum)
- A Digital TV Card with BDA Drivers, or a TwinHan DVB-T Card"
And I have NO clue if my video card qualifies and there are no video cards listed in this thread. I then realized that I don’t live in one of the countries listed where this would work, BUT my point is the same: I often, when I read these kind of manuals, end up spending a LOT of time trying to figure out whether what I have is compatible, what the acronyms stand for, whether a little number or letter in an acronym makes all the difference or if it’s the same thing just maybe cheaper or more expensive, etc. So, I wanted to know what I can do with the hardware I have and then I can research further myself into how to do it… but letting me loose on a very big site with a lot of tutorials usually ends up in me giving up for lack of time to actually get to the specifics that pertain to me. I wish I had all day to read this stuff, it’s interesting and much more fun than advanced statistics, for example.
