There is a book called "CD Cracking Uncovered: Protection Against Unsanctioned CD Copying" by Kris Kaspersky. It will guide you to build such fake protections. The main problem with these techniques are their compatibility. Each drive works in the way its Firm is written, So these protections may work random on user drives. You know that I am more familiar with your culture, so using the copyright hole as "Creating Legal Backups" is not accepted as a reasonable answer to copy a protected CD. All I can hint is buying the software that you need.
About the methodology, NJ protection uses a backdoor in CUE burning feature. They build a CUE with a lost track. For Example imagine removind Track 02 from the sample CUE. Not every burning program will burn it, as Alcohol and CDRWIN for example check the CUE format before sending it to dirve, But Nero 5.5.1042 OEM for example , or Some CloneCD versions can burn such CUE Files. Their Track arrangement in the CUE will affect on the way that Drive reads some tracks ( As data are read as Audio ). The protection uses the data between lost syncs and checks it for sure. But not a totally compatible way at all. I had a review in persian about this on p30world in PHPNuke topic, read it for future informations.
Sorry man, I am busy atm to answer in detail.
