I have a DVD movie. When I plug it in the DVD player of my computer running on Windows 7, the move starts to play automatically in Windows Media Player. Also, after quitting the player, I can choose Play by right clicking the icon of my DVD player. The DVD appears as UDF DVD with the size of 7.72 GB.
I want to copy it to a disk image file on my hard drive so I can play the movie using a virtual DVD disk and player.
Is this possible and if yes what software can do that in the simplest way possible.
I have the following programs installed on my computer AnyDVD, Nero 8, and PowerISO but so far I can't achieve what I want.
Here's what I tried so far.
With Nero 8, I chose Image Recorder in the Recorder menu, and then Copy DVD which saved it as a .nrg file on my hard drive. But I have no idea how to use this file to play the movie from the hard drive.
With PowerISO, I can copy the DVD to the hard drive in these three file formats .daa, .bin, and .iso. I also can mount them in a virtual DVD player but I still cannot play the movie - mounting the virtual DVD doesn't automatically play the DVD and the Play menu is not available when I right click on it. All I can do is explore the content of the virtual DVD which appears to have the same files as the original DVD. These are files with extentions like .VOB, .BUP, and .IFO and I don't know what do with them.
I will greatly appreciate your help.
