I've been wanting to test out RICOHJPN R03 for a while, so I finally picked up some black bottom Maxell 16X DVD+R's (MIT). Over half of the discs so far have visual blemishes on the undersides of the discs. Some have a cluster of whiteish stuff on the outer area of the disc. Others have tons of white specs EVERYWHERE; it looks like someone sprayed the disc with hairspray. It's ridiculous.
Near the hub, it's clean, but it gets worse the farther out you go. At first, I thought it was a bad disc on the top. I used it to create the full AutoStrategy on my Plextor, because the strategy creation only uses about 3mm of space, which was clean. Then, I noticed that over half (of about 10 so far) were equally awful.
The discs often stick together as well. I've had this problem with my Maxell 8X DVD+R (MAXELL 002) too, but the undersides of those discs were relatively clean at least.
Has anyone else encountered this? I'm about ready to return them. Stay away from Maxell nowadays. ;\
