HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT34N not working after windows 8 upgrade

Hi

My HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT34N drive was working fine until I upgraded from win 7 to win 8 but now I get registary error 19 - can anyone help?!?!? Many thanks, Neil

Try this:
Open the registry editor - press the Win button, type “regedit” and press enter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow/Yes.
In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
In the right pane, locate one or both of the keys UpperFilters and LowerFilters. You can have only one, or you can have both.
Right-click on the key and choose Delete. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
If you found both keys, repeat the previous step.
Exit Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.

If you would prefer not to work directly in the registry, you can remove upper and lower filters within a burning program called ImBurn. www.imgburn.com
Install the program, open it, then click Tools at the top of the main window. In the drop down box that appears, click on Filter Driver Load Order. This will show the upper and lower filters that are in the system, and you can remove them here.

LG drives are known to be buggy with win8.

Only solution is an firmware upgrade. :frowning:

+1 I saw that the new firmware for my LD BD drive is to fix Win8 compatability.

Do you guys have a list of the LG drives that need this update? My old GGW-H20L did not.

AFAIK, that only counts for newer DVD, slimDVD and BD drives from LG.
