Well the English version of Hitman 2 has SecuRom like 4.77 and cannot be copied 1:1. And your log looks as if the cd had SD2 protection on it because of all the read errors. So either you’re lieing or you have the spanihs/german version or you just have the PERFECT combo of hardware that can somehow defeat this protection which seems highly unlikely.

Nouturn20, Hitman is Securom 4.83, and yes it can be backed up 1:1 using Twinpeak. Don’t go accusing people of lying, perhaps his version IS different, although it is unlikely.

@cmswq3
SecuROM does not utilise bad sectors as part of it’s protection. It is possible your cd is scratched?
The errors are NOT supposed to be there.

@nouturn20

And your log looks as if the cd had SD2 protection on it because of all the read errors.

These bad sectors are not typical of SD2 sectors due to their number.
SD2 sectors usually range from 800 - 10000.

Cheers

maybe it’s a BW backup copied with clone??! (long shot…)

your read setting is set at 8x yet the avg. reading time is 28.23:confused:

look why would I lie, what good what it do me to lie? Some of us dont use logical thinking when we accuse people, hey I dont know about the read errors all I know is I used clonyXXL to scan and then hit the “start Clonecd” and let it go and when it ejected i put it in my DVD drive installed it and started playing and just to make sure it worked I used a cheat code to access all the levels and just ran around in god mode. All video audio and game action were fine.

nouturn20
If you are unhappy with my post give me your address and I would be happy to send you a copy to prve it, provided you destroy after inspection.

are you really so insecure that you have to call someone a liar when they post something that they think is really cool. The whole reason I posted was because I thought there was no way I could copy it, why else would I put my log up with my original posting?

JUST THINK ABOUT IT…

Hi everybody,

I only wanna say that unfortunately, Hitman 2 spanish version has not safedisk: it’s got the gloomily renowned Securom 4.83.11.0009

And please, be happy… in this world of unintelligible and useless protections, everything is possible

That’s all, folks!!!

I did the same thing!

I’m probably going to be accused of lying also, but doesn’t matter.

I copied Hitman2 English version with no problems a few days ago. I had no clue, until today, that it had the new SecuRom stuff. I read the CD at full speed and wrote at 16x (max for my CDR’s). I did a disk2disk but not on the fly. I used CCD 4.0.1.9. I don’t have the newest Clony, so I just scanned it for bad sectors and none came out. The CD works fine! Odd.

cmswq3

what version of CCD was used and could u check those errors in CdMage for content and error level ie: sub or not

also, how long aprox was the cd verified by securom ?

Wiz486

have u tried patching, the securom version is updated with latest patch availible

those of u that got hitman 2 to work, what version of hitman2 are u running? 1.01 came out and there’s updates for securom on it, try updating the game, see if it still works, if it’s really a 1:1 copy then the game will run even when patched.

http://www.eidosinteractive.com/support/patchinfo.html?ptid=77 - patch info and downloads.

I haven’t patched it yet, and I never expected the copy to work since it’s SecuRom 4. I doubt it will work after the patch. I will try anyways. Just hope it doesn’t screw something up.

FU*K! Not only does the CD not work, but my mounted image doesn’t work now either! Now I have to uninstall the whole game and reinstall! Well, I guess we figured out the answer to that question.

This really sucks…

It does the same to your guys’ right?
Wait, maybe a No-cd patch will do the trick.

Wiz486

could be ur retail wasnt protected in the first place, did it check out in ClonyXXL as Securom 4.8+ ?

sounds like a bug in securom that the patch fixes :stuck_out_tongue:

maybee next time…

EDIT: wonder if your originals work after patching…

I have just finished making a perfect 1:1 copy of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (English)!!! It installs fine, plays fine, and even when u patch the game (the installed version from this disc is v1.0, patch makes it v1.01), the cd still works fine! Takes around 20-30 seconds to verify on the first play, but after that only 3-5 seconds!

Here’s the deal:

I was reading around these forums, doin research, etc. I decided to try the twinpeak method. So i did the following:

  1. Made .ccd image with CloneCD 4.1.0.1, using SecuROM profile found on the CDFreaks forums:

http://www.cdfreaks.com/images/forum/CloneCD_4_Profiles/SecuRom.ccp

  1. Downloaded MDS file from www.daemon-tools.com (Hitman 2 English)

  2. Converted MDS file to BWA using BWA Creator from BlindWrite Suite

  3. Used TwinPeak v0.2 to create a patched.ccd, using the following settings:

       Twin Sector Step: 15
       Maximum Image Size: 710MB

  4. When the patched.ccd was finished, I burned it to a CD-R using CloneCD 4.1.0.1, using the same profile as before (SecuROM). Used the default settings in this profile. Wrote at max speed (24x).

After that I took the disc out of the burner and put it in my DVD/CD Reader, installed, tried to play… first time it didn’t work, so i turned off “Hide CD-R Media” in CloneCD Tray, and then tried again… Worked!!!

After playing a few levels (I couldn’t resist, ), I closed the game, downloaded the English patch from www.eidos.com, installed it, and tried again… CD verified in 3 seconds and the game loaded!!!

Drive Setup:

Image Reader (Used for Step 1): NEC NR-7900A at MAX Read Speed
Image Writer (Used for Step 5): NEC NR-7900A at 24x Write Speed
Copy Reader (For testing, installing, gameplay): LITEON DVDROM LTD163

I hope this helps everyone out there in someway, hopefully you guys can figure out exactly how to do this every single time, without fail!

well so does my first backup with Blindwrite (v4.2) works with the 1.01 patch.

read & wrote it with the lite-on LTR-48125W (vs08)
BWA made @4x with the litey

Works just like a "real’ copy with my writer & reader - asus 52x cd-rom.

just a small point these are not real 1:1 backups…when you use BW, twinpeaks etc…in some cases certain cdrom/dvdrom can read the cd to play but can not install from these discs

yes i know.
