Linux distributions are distributed as ISO disc image. These need to be burned onto a blank CD or DVD (depending on file size) using the "burn Image" option of your CD/DVD burning software application. ImgBurn is a free, highly recommended solution.
After haveing created the disc, you need to boot your computer from that disc in order to install the operating system.
