I need some advice on buying a new DVD burner, hope I have posted this in the right section, anyway, heres the story..
I currently have a Samsung TS-H552U dvd burner and let me tell you, I have had nothing but problems with it. It turns the majority of my Verbatim and Sony discs into coasters and it has problems reading the discs which are burnt successfully. It also seems to run extremely hot when it has been reading discs after only a short amount of time.
Anyway, I think its time to finally buy a dvd burner that I can rely on. I have been doing alot of research on this site and many other sites and I seem to find the Pioneer, LG and NEC drives are popular. Last night I had found an article on cdfreaks about the top dvd burners as voted by the community (cant find the link now) and the Pioneer 112D was rated as the best, however a quick google search shows many owners are experiencing problems with that drive. I am also having problems finding a writer in beige, most of the Pioneer and LG's come in black, though, after much searching, I did find a 112D in beige although at a higher cost. I'm also looking for a IDE writer, my motherboard is equipped with SATA, but I'm too scared to use it again - I somehow screwed up my friends SATA hard drive when i borrowed it off him and plugged it into my computer, dont ask me how it broke.
NEC drives are not sold where I live so they are out of contention, BENQ is also fairly rare.
Anyway I have a few choices, they are the following:
Lite-On DH-20A4P and LH-20A1H
Can I get some advice on which drive to buy, whether it be out of those three I have listed or something different, I can always look around for it. I just need a good reliable burner!
Thanks to those who took the time to read my long, long rant.
