Help with DVR-108

#1

I bought this DVR last year and it seem to be working till now. The problem is when I put some random dvd in it will just be blank. In other DVD it will read it and play fine from what I can tell. I tried to test it out with burning something and it fails. I used DVD shrink, dvd decrypter and nero. They seem to tell me it fails. I got the logs from nero and here it is. When It riping stuff off a dvd it’s going at a really low speed like 1x or sometimes it’s .1x. Firmware is updated too.

Anybody got any ideas ? I hope it’s not dead because i bought it OEM. Does it need to be cleaned or something ?

#2

there are 4 possible reasons for power calibration error

a) the burner dont like the media

b) too many devices connected to one power source (via splitters) , its best to connect it standalone meaning connecting it to a power plug that comes directly from the power supply without any splitters

c) power supply providing too low voltages
d) laser unit is dirty and needs to be cleaned with compressed air

from what i can see the burner identifies the mediacode just fine however its still might be the trouble maker if they are fake
are they made in japan? if not they are with a doubt fakes also have a look at one post serial numbers thats on it then ill be able to say for sure if they are fake or not , as for psu voltages get speedfan from http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
take a screenshot and upload to http://imageshack.us , its likely not related to the problem but the dma is off on your wd 160gb sata hdd enabling it will improve its performance alot

#3

thx, my PSU died a couple of weeks ago and i know i’m using a low watt PSU but it seemed to burn a couple of DVD fine when It was working.

#4

Maybe you could try it with the latest Nero version or DVDDecrypter?

#5

that would help with the dvd that the DVR actually can read, but what about the other one that’s just come up blank ?

#6

You mean it’s been seen as BLANK media in explorer?!

#7

yup.

#8

Such issues have been reported when using m$ OS’.
You should read some of the stickies to resolve it, I think.
