Help with dvdauthor/mplex

I’m a first time user of dvd2svcd and its failed and I haven’t a clue :slight_smile:

I’ve downloaded the latest version dvd2svcd and have configured it according to doom9

I’ve started the app using D2Sroba with CCE to convert an AVI into a DVD

Everything seems to work until it gets to dvauthor.exe/mplex I think:

The error log for mplex is:

INFO: [???] mplex version 2.0.0 (2.2.3 $Date: 2004/01/13 20:45:26 $)
INFO: [???] File F:\dvd\Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL.mpv looks like an MPEG Video stream.
**ERROR: [???] File unrecogniseable!
**ERROR: [???] Unrecogniseable file(s)… exiting.

The error log for dvdauthor is (i assume because of the above error and assuming the mplex combines the sound and video to make the mpg?):

DVDAuthor::dvdauthor, version 0.6.10.
Build options: gnugetopt iconv freetype
Send bugs to <>

INFO: Locale=C
INFO: Converting filenames to US-ASCII
INFO: dvdauthor creating VTS
STAT: Picking VTS 01

STAT: Processing F:\dvd\MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg…
ERR: Error opening F:\dvd\MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg: No such file or directory

The xml file for dvdauthor is:
<dvdauthor dest=“F:\dvd\DVD-Files”>
<vmgm />
<video format=“pal” />
<audio lang="–" />
<vob file=“F:\dvd\MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg” chapters=“00:00:00” />
<post> call vmgm menu; </post>

I can rename the mpv file to a mpg and it plays ok (with no sound) in media player.

Anyone got any ideas? I have plenty of hard disk space, etc.

If need be I have all the other log files, etc ready to post.

Hm… i’m not an expert to this programm, so i cant help you with this problem…

But maybe i can help you if you answer me following question, do you want to rip from dvd to hdd (avi) or to VCD/SVCD?

I wish to convert from AVI to a DVD

Hm… sry but in this case i don’t know a tool, one question, this will not increase the quality of the video, do you want to play the video on your standalone DVD player or why do you want to do this?

Yes. All I want is to convert an avi into a format that can be played on my DVD. I have lots of tools like nero, ulead video studio, etc but this seemed the only option from doom9 site. It’s quite disheartening after 8 hours or so it fails :frowning:

I did use ulead video studio 7 and that seemed to work on my AVI file except it lost the sound and ratio was changed from letterbox to 4:3!
