Hey all, I recently did a backup of my own personal dvd with xilisofy dvd rip platnium, and the quality of the mp4 I wanted to create, was not like the file on dvd at all, even if I chose avi, wmv the results are always the same…

The picture on the left is the video encoded on all high settings with xilisoft.

The image on the right is the dvd… What gives! Just look at the difference in quality!

Letters on the left are very rigidity, meanwhile I can go full screen with the dvd file and its still nice and clear…

I must say, the encoding of the video part of the file is quite good, mabe just the text look bad under the encoding process?

The degradation of the video is probably the same throughout. It is just harder to spot on the other parts. If you open the files in an editor and examine them frame by frame, you’ll probably see more evidence of this.

hmm… well that stinks!

Anyway I did an AVI backup with handbrake and it “matched” “if not made better” the quality of the dvd file…

Did a double encode and turned the constant quality rate all the way up,

now if I could only remove the cracking noise from audio with the encoder…

How does handbrake do its job so well!!!

I don’t think im going to bother with xilisoft anymore…
