Help with Cdlock

vbimport

#1

I recently decided to re-install “Thief 2 the metal age”
And put it through a-ray scanner and found it to be cdlock on the exe and safedisk on a .dll file.
I tried making an image with alchohol but theirs no cdlock in the list so i tried safedisk had no luck so i tried sucurom 2/3 to see if that worked but still no working image
does anyone know how to make an image of this?
any help is appreciated

When trying to make an image with A120% do you see bad sectors on the CD?
My version of Thief2 shows this:

[11:53:01 AM] Signs on CD/DVD indicate SafeDisc 1
[11:53:02 AM] SafeDisc 1.41.000 detected -> H:\THIEF2\DPLAYERX.DLL
[11:53:02 AM] SafeDisc 1.41.000 detected -> H:\THIEF2 hief2.exe
[11:53:02 AM] SafeDisc 1.41.000 detected -> H:\dplayerx.dll
[11:53:03 AM] — File(s) Scan Finished [1.63s] —

Also doing a Sector Scan with A-Ray will let you know if it’s Safedisc or not.

Cheers

And put it through a-ray scanner and found it to be cdlock on the exe and safedisk on a .dll

this combo isn´t possible :wink:
thief 2 is just safedisk v1

#5

trust me it is! heres proof

and even if it is just one i still can’t copy it. i have tried(alchohol) safedisk, safedisk 2/3, Securom, secrom new

Any drive capable of writing in any raw mode can handle safedisc 1.

If your copy isn’t working, it is because of one of the following-
[li]Your original is bad.
[/li][li]Your writer can’t write in a raw mode (unlikely).
[/li][li]The copy is simply bad whether from using bad media or otherwise.
[/li][li]The game is hot-wired to run only from its installation drive (and you’re trying to run it from a different drive).
[/li][li]The game will only run from the rom with the lowest drive letter (and you’re trying to run it from a different drive).
[/li]
Your original is bad. - Perfect condition no scratches
Your writer can’t write in a raw mode - It can
The copy is simply bad whether from using bad media or otherwise. - copying to computer
The game is hot-wired to run only from its installation drive - Nope same drive
The game will only run from the rom with the lowest drive letter - nope runs from cd in both
Any ideas

No he means the Disc in which you burnt your copy on could be bad.

Firstly, i’d mount the image on a virtual drive (Alcohol has one in-built).if it works from there, there may be a factor involved that is burning bad copies (whether it be writer, Media or speed). try lowering burn speed and it would also help posting the media.

P.S If you can find files of the “.AFP” Extention on the CD, then it is CD Lock or CD Lock fake

i havnt made any copies yet im trying to copy the original in my lite-on drive to my computer using alchohol 120%. i searched for that file type and theirs none i will repost when i have retried copying

\\VH////
:slight_smile:

#11

no not yet do you think it will help
and the image i just made still has the same problem
(“please insert cd”)
Im gonna try again but with my msi drive

#12

Still no luck

#13

No AFP Files means no CD Lock:)

#14

i have tried again but still asking for me to insert cd
right this is what i have tried
Alcholhol 120%
-safedisk 4x lite-on (hasnt hit anything i cant copy yet) and my msi
-safedisk 2/3 4x lite-on
-sucurom new* 4x lite-on
Any ideas because im to lazy to insert the cd lol

#15

Are there bad sectors on the CD?
Did you sector scan it with A-Ray?

#16

i just did a sector scan took half a second
results
[17:12:28 PM] No Protection detected -> E:\Thief2_2 [77EC8762]
whereas normal scan
[17:12:18 PM] SafeDisc 1.41.000 detected -> E:\THIEF2\dplayerx.dll
[17:12:21 PM] CDLock detected -> E:\THIEF2 hief2.exe (FAKE)

#17

If the sector scan comes up with nothing then it’s likely it’s not Safedisc.
Are there bad sectors on the CD?

Try ripping it using A120%'s General Protected CD datatype.

Cheers

#18

Im not sure if i should have said this at the beggining but this thief 2 game is on two cd’s. Im trying that general protected cd in alchohol now i will post back with the results
