Help with a " tsst corp cd/dvdw ts-h652" drive

Hi guys i’m a noob here, but am really just wanting help with my dvd-cd drive!
It reads cds/games/movie dvds but as soon as i put a dvd/rw or a cd/rw in my drive does not read or auto play…as far as i know my drivers are up too date and this drive has had very little use for writing!

all i know about this drive is this… tsst corp cd/dvdw ts-h652 and it’s a light scribe.

Any help would be much appreciated:D

What software are you using to write data onto these discs?
Do you have Deamon Tools or Alcohol installed?

This is not very much information here. Not even enough to identify the drive :frowning:
(the final letter - you omitted that - is essential part of the model#, and the firmware version helps determining for what OEM customer (=brand name computer manufacturer) this drive was configured)

But I guess, this is a Windows problem, not a drive issue.

I have the same drive which is supposedly a Samsung. It is listed on the samsung website. Mine is working fine. I just wanted to update the firmware.Supposedly it is the same or similar to Samsung SH-5182. It came in my Gateway Vista 32 computer. There is a kc03 .exe and a M002.bin file that are firmware updates but not compatible. The bin file went to my vlc player for someone reason. Driver Agent &Detective both listed this drive to be updated.
Samsung only had the manuals on line. The firmware updates were on softpedia.com Just curious if anyone has successfully upgraded. Various people on different forums than cdfreaks mention this drive but are just as befuddled as I am in finding a proper firmware. Still googling.

Looks like Mciahel was right about the missing letter (D). I guess I should have used VSO Inspector before Driver Agent & Detective as only ts-h652 was shown, same with the samsung website. Time to re-google. I also need to get rid of some filters I have been putting off.

Check my sig, follow “how to delete upper&lower filters”.

Hi,

TS-H652D was very widespread among OEM customers like HP, Gateway and other big brand computer manufacturers.
Retail version was sold as Samsung SH-S182D, and it was also sold under Sony and Philips brand.

The only firmware for your Gateway version that is flashable without problems is available from Gateway support.
For other OEM or retail firmware, the “hardware check” must be overridden. Details are described in the FAQ (see my signature)
