Hi I have just got nero start smart I do not know what version this it, anyway the problem is that I can not alter the writing speed i have just copied a disc and the drop down button is not active . Has anyone got the answer.

If it looks like this, click where the blue circle is and you will get the version number for the main program and version numbers for the components.

You also need to tell us what you are using within Nero (e.g. NeroVision, NeroExpress, etc.).

Can you post a screen shot of where you are at?
