NOW COMES THE INTERESTING PART

This one is sold as Frontech Plus DVD-R

Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:TYG02]

Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Taiyo Yuden Co. Ltd.]
Manufacturer ID : [TYG02]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]

[ DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]

[Note that Frontech Plus is a brand of a KOLKATA (INDIA) based company named “JUPITER INNOVATIONS LTD.” and the company recently started a CD/DVD manufacturing plant of its own in BADDI (INDIA)] and the cd-s are not made in Japan.
This company JIL is recently selected as a chief distributor for Samsung Pleomax in India and is a rising competitor of Moser Baer]

it would be nice if anybody can help me with both of above discs as i am planning to buy many discs ASAP

And one more thing. The Sony CD & DVDs we get here are “Made In India” or “Manufactured By Sony India PVT LTD.” So could it be Moser Baer? because ATIP always shows SONY CORP.

With the one that IDs as TY…can you look at the hub of the disc for some serial numbers (I think TGY02 starts with GG?).

Not sure about the Optodisc one…never heard of anyone faking Optodisc MIDs personally.

it is SONY "MADE IN INDIA"
so who’s the manuf. MBIL? or Sony Itself is manufacturing?

#4

It’s most probably Moser Baer manufacturing for Sony, according to Sony’s specifications, probably even using stampers from Sony, similar to the Mitsubishi and MBI relationship, or Ritek & Ricoh etc.

#5

as frontech’s using OPTODOSC for +R and OPTODISC’s famous for fake TY, i’ss presume these -R are also from OPTODISC.
where does OPTODISC stand? good, avg. horrible?
compared to SONY08 (made in taiwan) and FUJIFILM03 (made by Moser Baer)

#6

I’ve never heard of Optodisc faking TY codes - I always thought the main culprit was Infosmart.

#7

Optodisc is… uhh, only some burners like it, it’s not very good. I heard that they’re cooperating with Prodisc now, but I don’t know more about it.

#8

Bulkpaq have also started selling discs with optodisc codes. Which is strange as Bulkpaq have always been fake codes (well since 8x anyway). So i rekon these optodisc codes could be fake.

#9

Nah, I’m sure the optodiscs are real. Although they might be the factory rejects which certainly isn’t uncommon from E-net labeled discs. Factory Reject Optodisc just sounds scary to me.

#10

If you would put up the serials then there is a change of the SONY and TYG02 disc’s then I might be able to tell you who made them or be able to track them down.

#11

thanks!
i’ll post them within an hour

#13

another interesting thing

SONY DVD-RW (MIT)

Drive Type = DVD DUAL
Disc Type = DVD-RW (Single Layer)
Disc MID = 52 49 54 45 4B 57 (RITEKW)
Disc TID = 30 31 00 00 00 00 (01…)
Nominal Capacity = 4.38GB
Manufacturer Maybe = RiTEK Corporation
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 2.4X (Write)

RITEK?

#14

It is Ritek. Also, the TY looks like a fake as from what I have read the hub code should be in the format of GGXXXXX, with the X’s replaced to indicate the batch the discs are from.

#15

ty’s fake. but then who’s the real manufacturer?

#16

Probably Infosmart, as they seem to have done most of the faking that I’ve heard of and read about, but there may be more that I don’t know about.

#17

These might be made by JIL itself, as it has a new manufacturing plant of its own.
I think they have plant since april 2005, but even after that the frontech CD_R i’ve tried are made by “Plasmon”. May be they are not inserting their own name in ATIP info

#19

I’m pretty sure the Sony’s made by Moser Baer. Code from Imation MBIPG101 R04:

5074 502 +R C C 09103

#20

YEp SONY = MBIL (and that’s most likely a E not a L but I know that it can be hard to read)
Frontech (Optodisc) =Optodisc
Frontech Plus (TYG02) = ?? (Not Optodisc !)
