Help - Lite-On DVRW SOHW-812S

Can someone pls help me with this problem on the Lite-On DVDRW model SOHW-812S:

When a dvd disc is inserted, the drive detects it and Windows XP displays the option to burn the new disc or open an already ready disc.

However, when a normal cd is inserted, it does not recognise that a disc has been inserted.

I have tried to uninstall and re-install the driver a few times with no luck.

Please help!

Welcome to CDFReaks Forum.

The cd laser is probably dead.

Try to boot from the drive. Windows install cd can be booted.

If fail, your drive is dead.
