Help! I suddenly cannot burn anything

I suddenly cannot burn anything using my DVD drive. I tried backing up a movie, burning audio & burning data on both CD & DVD and I tried burning an ISO. When doing the ISO, it said it finished successfully but the disk was blank. Everything else fails. This is the log file on the last burn I tried.

Someone please help, this is driving me insane!!!

Forgot to mention, I am using Nero 8 or Vuze to do the burning and I’ve been using them for years without issue. I’m also using +R disks, which I also use all the time.

Looks like your DMA is off that might be the problem. Have you done any kinda firmware updates or software updates? Also are those the same media batch your using or another batch? Also the movie your trying to burn what format are you using? And did you test to see if the movie properly played before trying to burn it? And is the log a complete log not edited log file minus the registration serial from it???

I did attempt to update the firmware but then I realized that I already had the latest version. I’ve already burned this movie once, that’s why I used that one as a test so I know the movie is fine. The log is complete & I am using the same batch of media as before.

GSA-H73N is a SATA drive coolcolors. DMA isn’t the culprit with them. And Nero is notoriously bad about reporting DMA off when it isn’t or doesn’t apply.

Sorry I don’t have any more help for michellemomof3, but the error in the Nero log is Key_Medium_Error, which usually means poor quality disks, or a mismatch between them and the firmware of the drive. Don’t think that is the case with MCC004 disks.

Personally, I’d try another burn using ImgBurn, which is a free burning program that will not conflict with Nero on the same system. It can be found here: www.imgburn.com
If the burn fails, post the log file. You can find it by clicking Help–>ImgBurn logs
GSA-H73N is a SATA drive coolcolors. DMA isn’t the culprit with them. And Nero is notoriously bad about reporting DMA off when it isn’t or doesn’t apply.
I beg to differ in this case. The drive is “powered” by atapi.sys here, which is Windows default driver. Nero is able to properly report DMA state then.
That said, yes, checking DMA stuff is recommended here.

DMA not active and attempting 22x speed will cause problems.

Michael

P.S.: Moved to LG writers forum.

Oops…sorry. I’m so used to Nero being wrong I missed that little atapi in the line.

michellemomof3, fixing DMA would be the first step. You can try following Womble’s guide (there is a link in my signature). Or you can install ImgBurn and fix it through that. Click Discover–>Tools–>Reset DMA. Nero may have a tool for resetting dma also, but its been too long since I used that program.
