Help! GSA-H62L will not record anymore

Hey everyone,
as the title says, my H62L will no longer burn. I’ve had it for a month and I have successfully burned both DL and +/- R on it before. Last night I tried to burn a move and I got a burn failed with Nero. Thinking I had a Nero problem I tried CloneDVD and that failed also with a DL disc. I then tried a +R disc and that failed also. I am able to burn +R with my other non-DL burner but the LG fails everytime now. Also, Im not sure if its related but I was never able to successfully burn a lightscribe as well. It always locked up my computer. Here is the log for Nero. I tried burning a +R disc because I am tired of burning DL coasters (5 so far)
Thanks in advance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

from your nero burn log it shows you’re using a dvd disc that has media id which is cmc. cmc is considered low quality dvd media. try using Verbatim dvd media and burn with ImgBurn instead of Nero. also edit your post by deleting your name and serial number from the nero log.

Thanks I didnt even notice that before. The media I used in this log was Memorex DVD+r, but for the DL i am using Sony DVD+R DL, neither of which I had a problem with before. I will try Verbatim though.
Also, the Memorex burns fine in my SONY DVD+/-R drive, but wont burn in the LG

Brand names don’t mean much, it’s the media id that makes the difference. Memorex & Sony DL media is considered low quality. The only good quality DL media is made by Verbatim. By using programs like Dvdinfo pro, Dvd Identifier and Cd/Dvd Speed you can find out the media id on dvd discs. Memorex is known to use manufacturers like Ritek & Cmc which are low quality dvd media.

Not sure if this is a media issue. My experience of bad media is it would not play in a standalone DVD-player.

Furthermore, the writer was working for a whole month. If you did not change your media, good chance that this is not media related.

Is your mobo set to raid on that SATA port you are running your 62L?

Here’s why i ask:

First Nero doesn’t seem to be able “recode” this disc correctly. Second, drive fails already at lead-in writing, and I’m not surprised.
BTW, media used in log posted is DVD-R.

chulo_d, try encode and recode with free utilities like RipIt4Me and DVDShrink, then burn with ImgBurn. Check out Copy DVD Movie forum section for guides and further info + links.

Hey guys thanks for the replies and sorry its taken so long to get back to you.

Rolling- the drive is connected to one of my mobo’s raid ports, but the port is configured to run in SATA mode.

As of late the drive has taken a even worse turn… now it wont even recognized cd-r’s. The lightscribe cd-r’s I previously used to burn music now sit in the drive as it flashes away and does nothing. Suprisingly the drive still reads dvd’s +/- R and +/-R DL… I dunno whats wrong with this piece of crap.
