Help! DW1650 slow write rate

Hi all, just got my new replacement today due to last DW1650 unable to read anything after 4 month of use. However, the new one came with different problem, it only able to burn at 2.4 max with my CMC MAG-E01-00. The same media (same batch) burn at 8x without any problem using my previous one and works like charm with my brother’s liteon. The new one came with BCDC fw and just tried the new BCIC fw but still the same. DMA is fine, done with controller uninstall -> reboot, also DMA option is set to auto in BIOS. What’s the problem? Flash to different firmware doesn’t help and I thought BCDC is a good firmware for DW1650.?? FYI, my MB is Nvidia nForce3 250.

Should I set Write Speed to 8x or leave it to MAX? Please help, it takes 20 min to burn a full disk!!

Same problem here with BCIB on that media code, have not tried more than 1 non OS burn burn BUT trying to overspeed them to 12x or even the 8x they are suposed to be causes a failure during the burn. The last burn I did was selected at 8x but started at 2.4x with a very good quality burn.

Looks like we have found another bug in the BCIC / BCIB firmware

You may want to go back to BCGC to see if that helps as BCHC I believe had similar problems with other media.

Uhmm… so maybe it’s just the firmware. I’ll try with BCFC later because my previous benq drive came with this firmware and it burn this media fine at 8x. Is there BCGC firmware? I only got BCDC, BCFC, BCHC and the latest BCIC. Where to download BCGC?

edit: OK. Got it. BCGB is BCFC for DW1650. Right?

Might not be a G for the 1650’s as I own a 1655 and they had the G firmware.

Basically the point where things started to fall apart for BenQ was the H firmware so anything before that should be fine.

BCDC firmware which came with this drive doesn’t burn this disk at 8x. That’s why I’m a bit concern because I’m afraid it might has something to do with the hardware. If so, I really want to make sure before I return this one back again. Question: What program do ppl use to test write speed? Nero CD-DVD Speed?

Flash it to BCFC and it works. Thanks for the help.
