You aren't asking for much are you. There are many different softwares. For me, basically it boils down to which is easiest to use, and still provides good results.
For burning cd's, or copying cd/dvd, I use Nero.
For movie copying or burning, I use DVDShrink/DVDCrypter, because it does a great job, and it's easy to use.
For simple movie making/editing, I use Ulead Studio, because of it's ease of use.
For more complex movie making/editing, I use Adobe Premiere, or Vegas Video, because they can do things that some of the others can't do.
For rendering, I use Vegas or Canopus pro coder. Because they work.
